my sunshine

We do tummy time every day. Okay, pretty much everyday. Today we were doing tummy time and she rolled from her tummy to her back all by herself!! About a week ago, the day after she rolled to her tummy in her bed, she rolled over from her tummy to her back during tummy time. But it was more of a spontaneous thing, right after I layed her on her tummy, she just popped right over. Today, she actually pushed herself up with her arms, then flipped over. Three times! not a fluke this time...So, again she is ahead on her milestones, but she has yet to laugh out loud. She smiles from ear to ear, and "talks" to us when she's happy, but she hasn't lol'd. Maybe we're just not that funny. (Now at Easter everyone will be trying to get her to laugh, huh? hehe)

I thought this was cute; So, we all know she has her position she likes to sleep in. She'll arch her back and put her head back as far as it'll go, and bring her feet up. There's a picture of it in one of the posts below. She's been doing this since she came home. If you try to move her head, she'll get it right back in that same position. Anyway, so last night she fell asleep in her swing downstairs, while Ryan and I unwound on the couch. When we were ready to go to bed we changed her into her pajamas and took her upstairs. This, of course, woke her up. When we got upstairs I gave her a little bit more to eat. She seemed to fall asleep in my arms, so I put her in her bassinet. After I put her in the bassinet, she woke up and started fussing. Typically I'll pick her up almost right away and try to sing to her or feed her some more. Instead this time I leaned over and started to sing to her while she was still laying in her bassinet. As soon as I started, she got in the weird position. This is the first time this has ever happened. She fell asleep to me singing while she was still in the bassinet. I thought it was so cute, I started laughing, and she started waking up a bit and getting out of her position. I started singing again and she put herself in that position, and she put her hands together all cute, too. It was just way too cute and sweet.

Cutie Pie

She's being growing up soooo fast. Remember she's only 2 1/2 months old...

She's been able to...

push her head up to a 45 degree angle, and most recently a 90 degree angle when doing tummy time

hold her head steady when we hold her upright

bring both her hands together. She's so cute when she does it.

bear weight on her legs when we hold her upright. She's actually been "climbing" up us when we lay her on our tummies and she tries to when we hold her sitting upright, too.

turn her head in the direction of a voice...

...and most recently

a few weeks ago was the first time, then last night she did this to...she'll be sound asleep and giggle while she's dreaming. She hasn't laughed out loud yet while awake, though.

then last night, she was sleeping in her bassinet. Per the doctor's orders we always put her to sleep on her back. Last night she woke me up and I realized she was on her tummy. She rolled over from her back to her tummy all by herself! Then she got mad, cuz she was on her tummy. She started grunting, and that's what woke me up. As soon as I realized she was on her tummy, I grabbed her quickly cuz she was mad and it was time to eat. Then I realized she rolled over! Such a strong baby! We'll have to see if she can roll from her tummy to her back today during tummy time. She's getting close.

Daddy has also been exersizing with her in other ways. He'll sit with her on the couch and bring her upright so she's sitting up. He'll hold her up by her hands, but she does most of the work by herself. And one of us reads to her and plays with her everyday.

Also, every so often I'll take a bath and take her in the tub with me. I splash water on her, she enjoys when I put her legs in the water. Yesterday, I took her in the tub with me and I had her laying on my tummy. She was pushing her head up and every so often she would fart. Then I had her partially submerged in the water and she farted and made bubbles in the water. hehe...the look on her face was so cute...
